2009 Maersk Line Paper Tiger Catamaran International Championships

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club, NSW, Australia – 9th to 13th April 2009

Sailors Information

Jellyfish: Also known as Jelly Blubbers, are sometimes present on the racecourse. They can test weak rudder systems, so we advise that you upgrade yours if required. The fibreglass push-down rods system is vulnerable, but can be helped by tying the rod down in the middle. An alternative is to replace the fibreglass rod with a 12mm square aluminium tube. An even better alternative is to take the opportunity to upgrade to the rope pull-down system, which is not only very convenient, but also the best defence against the jellyfish.

Weed: At some times, a small amount of "ribbon weed" can be present in the lake. The ability to quickly lift rudders and lower them again will be enough to deal with this weed. Once again, the rope pull-down system is a great help in this situation.

Rigging: Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club is fortunate to have flat, grass rigging areas, which are also very close to the proposed camping area, providing a very convenient arrangement for sailors and their families.
