2009 Maersk Line Paper Tiger Catamaran International Championships

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club, NSW, Australia – 9th to 13th April 2009

Venue

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club is located at the end of Kanahooka Road, Kanahooka.

  • 15 mins south of Wollongong
  • 1hr 15 min south of Sydney Airport
  • 1hr 30 min south of Sydney City

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club sits on a point that protrudes into Lake Illawarra, a saltwater coastal lake that is over 11km long and about 6km wide. Because the club is about halfway along the western shore, it enjoys the best sailing on the lake in all the predominant breezes (NE, SE, S, SW).

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club is one of four sailing clubs on the lake and it celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005.

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club previously hosted the Paper Tiger Catamaran Internationals in 1997 and the Paper Tiger Catamaran Australian Championships in 1992. It has hosted state championships for various classes of monohulls and catamarans.

Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club is proud to be once again hosting this pinnacle event for the Paper Tiger Catamaran class.
